Work with Me

Mellisschottlandabenteuer

Hi, I'm Melli....

....  I’ve been blogging since 2015 but have been rooted in Scotland since 2013. I currently live with my German-Australian-British family in Edinburgh and show my German speaking guests the beauty of the Old Town and Canongate. I’m passionate about the country, sustainable travel, family travel, Scottish culture and history. If you’re looking for content packed with travel inspiration, cultural history by the bucket load, and destination advice, then let’s chat.

Thousands of people flock to Scotland every year. It’s home to some beautiful places recognised worldwide for their rich history and culture.

Why should you look into german speaking tourism?

Those who travel from Germany to Scotland are motivated to visit by the great natural beauty and vast unspoilt landscapes. German visitors to Scotland enjoy touring the country.
In 2022, Germany was Scotland’s third largest international source market measured by number of visits, after USA and France. It was fourth by expenditure and third by number nights.
German visitors accounted for 7% of all overseas visits to Scotland and 5% of all overseas spend in Scotland in 2022.
Many German speaking users searching for Scotland online also want to find out the history behind it with thousands asking for the capital and other related information. This shows that the Scottish history can draw people in from all the German speaking countries to visit Scotland.

It is estimated that worldwide there are 90 million people who are native German speakers. In addition, German is spoken as a second language by an additional 10 to 25 million people, and as a foreign language by 75 to 100 million people.

I welcome German speaking people from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and other countries.

“I have been working with "Melli´s Schottland Abenteuer" for many years now and have to admit, it is the most easiest, friendly and efficient cooperation you can imagine. She has mentioned my company in her blog posts regularly, as I am dealing with Scotland tours, and I am more than happy to have profited from many of her customers who have then booked a whole Scotland tour in my travel agency. I love her writing style, which addresses people in a familiar way and helps them not be shy to contact her and /or the companies she is quite diplomatically mentioning as partners you can trust. Trust also is the point, since Melli has faithful followers, who are really following, not just reading and liking. I highly appreciate my cooperation with her via her Website and Facebook account.”

Her customers are always lovely, enthusiastic people.
Thank you Melli!”

"I have spent many years in Germany, as many of you will know. I love the culture and the people and the beer! Last year Melli from Mellis Schottland Abenteuern came into the shop, and we’ve been messaging on Instagram ever since! What maybe you don’t realise is that German people love Scotland! I don’t know if it is our Haggis, Kilts, Castles or terrible weather? But many German speakers make the journey to Scotland each year to look around.

Melli takes groups around Edinburgh specifically, and she does a pretty excellent job giving German-speaking people a good sense of our capital city! Something essential to us as a family is giving back to people who are giving back. Does that make sense? Melli is one of those people. It is easy to appreciate Melli’s effort to provide a Service to german speaking people in another country. She shares her passion and helps them discover what is great about our local area."
